Reports reaching TON have that former Senate President
David Mark has appeared before the Benue election tribunal
to defend his fifth term victory in the senate.
However, the embattled Senator reportedly refused to enter the
witness box.
Famous columnist Japheth Omojuwa has written about this on
his Twitter account:
#BenueTribunal : Former Senate President, David Mark

Kenneth Ikonne, Mark’s Counsel, had told the Benue South
tribunal that his client would be appearing in person to testify on
August 18. However, former Senate president who arrived in
court in company of some supporters on Thursday refused to
testify from the witness box.
Recall that Mark was taken to the tribunal by his contender,
Dan Onjeh of the All Progressives Congress who contested for
the Benue South senatorial seat. Onjeh had claimed that the
polls were marred by several irregularities and substantial
breaches of the Electoral Act 2011 as amended.
He also alleged that INEC personnel were compromised and
voters were financially induced by the PDP agents at the
different polling units in the district.
The petitioner, therefore, asked the court to annul the poll and
order for fresh election.
