Chief Emmanuel Anyanwu, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has publicly disowned his son, Charles Anyanwu over political differences.

Chief Anyanwu said soldiers invaded his home following a petition filed against him by his son, Charles alleging that he was a gun runner.

Chief Anyanwu said: “I want to say or reemphasize what I said at Ulakwo that he (Charles) has been disowned for his behaviour, not only for sending soldiers to my house but for destroying the town hall of Ulakwo community.

“He has now lost his rights and privileges in Anyanwu’s dynasty. He remains disowned today. Anybody who deals with him is on his own. He is no longer my son because he doesn’t possess character and image of Anyanwu dynasty. At this my age there is nothing that can associate me with arms”.

Charles is a member of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and a strong supporter of former State Governor Rotimi Amaechi who is now the Minister of Transportation.
By extension, it became a battle between ardent supporters of former Governor Rotimi Amaechi and Governor Nyesom Wike.
