Elijah Oyebode, a suspect arrested in the murder of a 400-level Uniosun student has revealed how he was paid only N10,000 to bring her to a herbalist that allegedly killed her.
The Punch reports that Oyebode, a commercial driver was paraded on Thursday, January 12 alongside a herbalist simply called Jelili, who reportedly used the late lady for ritual purposes.
Oyebode claimed that Jelili gave him a charm with which he touched the late girl Rofiat Adebisi and she immediately fell under a hypnosis.
After other passengers aboard the vehicle had disembarked, he took her to Jelili, who tossed her luggage and took her into his house.
Oyebode also said that Rofiat’s phone rang while she was being taken in and he quickly disposed of her SIM card and later gave the phone to a friend who sold it for N20,000 for him.
Jelili however denied the allegations, he said Oyebode was a contract driver for him and he did not know anything about Adebisi’s death.
The Punch reports that Rofiat’s corpse was found in Iragbiji, where it was dumped five days after she went missing.
Osun state commissioner of police Fimihan Adeoye said the force and the DSS are working jointly to unravel the case.
He said: “Investigation is still ongoing into the case. The suspects will be charged to court after the investigation is concluded.”
