In what will come across as a really shocking development, a man has stunned many people after engaging in an act of r*pe on his wedding day.
A man identified as Derry Flynn McCann, has appeared in court charged with four rapes and a robbery which were allegedly carried out on his wedding day.
According to The Sun UK, McCann, a 28-year-old, has been remanded in custody over the alleged offences.
Police arrested him after a 24-year-old woman reported being attacked in a park in Hackney, East London, in the early hours of January 13 as she walked home following a night out with friends.
She told police a man grabbed her and demanded cash before dragging her into bushes and raping her.
McCann, from Hackney, was arrested and charged six days later.
He had married on the day of the alleged attack and posted pictures of himself with his new wife on his public Facebook page.
Their ceremony took place at The Vestry in Bromley-by-Bow, East London.
McCann appeared at Thames magistrates’ court on January 20 charged with four counts of rape and one of robbery against the same alleged victim.
He is not thought to have entered a plea.
The case has been sent to Snaresbrook crown court with a hearing set for February 16.
After the alleged r*pe, officers from the Met Police issued a description of their suspect.
They said he was white, aged 30, 5ft 8in tall and spoke with a London accent.
The man being sought was dressed in a grey hooded top with a black body warmer, blue jeans and grey trainers.
McCann’s wife, who is heavily pregnant, declined to comment.
