Properties worth millions of naira were lost on Tuesday, January 5, following a mysterious inferno that gutted four students hostels at Government Secondary School Gwarzo in Kano state, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
Speaking to NAN in Kano on Wednesday, January 6, eye witnesses said that the incident happened when students of the school were in their classes.
The sources said though no life was lost, the four hostels were completely destroyed by the inferno.
On arrival, that personnel of the State Fire Service in Gwarzo and some volunteers put out the fire.
Confirming the report, Alhaji Balarabe Kabara, the director of the state fire service, said the fire occurred at about 11:47am when the students were in class.
He also said that no life was lost during the incident.
