The Movement for the Actualisation of a Sovereign State Of Biafra (MASSOB) has warned governors in the south east and south south region to stop killing their members but. join hands in the agitation for Biafra.

The group also urged south south people to consider themselves as Biafrans as they would be able to enjoy their wealth freely when the independent state is achieved.
Vanguard reports that Chief Solomon Chukwu, the leader of MASSOB made this call when the group paid a courtesy visit to Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.

Chukwu warned the governors in the region not to play politics with the lives of the people but should rather speak up against what he called an unjust killing of defenseless members of the group.

“The governors are the chief security officers of their states; they should not sit and watch while security agents kill defenceless protesters. It is the right of the people to protest; they don’t bear arms, why would security agents turn their guns on the protesters who were holding a prayer session in Aba? It is all part of the plot to destabilize the former Eastern region. South East and South South governors should wake up and stop playing politics with the lives of their people. They should rise and take up the matter with the authorities. Enough is enough.”

Chukwu also paid a visit to the residence of the late Gen. Philip Effiong who was the deputy of the defunct Biafra state. He commended Obong Bassey Bassey, the regional administrator of the group for his role in mobilizing people and urged them to pursuer a non-violent approach as Biafra will soon be achieved.

In his response, Bassey assured that they were committed to the struggle as Nigeria had failed them.

“Since the late Gen. Philip Effiong fought for Biafra with all his might, we will also join hands to fight for freedom. Nigeria has failed us, our only hope is Biafra. We believe in Biafra”

As against the call for non-violence agitation urged by Chukwu, the Indigenous People Of Biafra resolved to start bearing arms from Wednesday, February 17 in order to defend itself during face-off with security operatives during protests.
