Premium Times witness, Mohammed Dan Asabe, said that the explosion occurred at about 11:44 am.
Another source, Ibrahim Bello, a resident of the area, added: “Blast is so powerful that all the glass windows and doors in our entire neighborhood have been destroyed.”
He also said there was serious anxiety around the area particularly at the Central Primary School, directly opposite the police station, where pupils were attending classes at the time of the bomb blast.
The casualty figure was not immediately clear.
