He was a former coach of the team before his departure two season and has arrived Lagos to take over the team. All the necessary formalities has been agreed. However, the contract negotiation has been made private as no outside party knows how much the foreign coach will earn per annum.
Mitko Dobrev is the coach the led the team to the premiership from the National league side and he left the team last season to go back to coaching school to brush up his skills before coming back to take up the challenge in the Awka based club.
The coach was warmly received by the founder of the team, Ifeanyi Ubah and chairman of the club Chukwuma Ubah, on his arrival, he said that he feel refreshed and delighted to be back to the team.
“After taking a year long break to improve myself by undertaking a one year coaching course, I feel refreshed, motivated and better equipped to match the goals set by the club, this will be a very interesting year and I cannot wait to meet with the players at the camp site,” he said.
Chairman of the club, Chuwuma Ubah said he is pleased to have him back to the team: “Mitko Dobrev is an experienced coach, especially when it comes to African football and we are extremely delighted to have him back with us and we firmly believe he is the right man to steer this ship to its destination.
Founder of the club, Ifeanyi Ubah noted that his love and passion for the club and Nigerian football in general were responsible for his personal investments in the team.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Professional Football League 2015/2016 season which resumes on February 21 will be full of glamour as Ifeanyi Ubah football club have signed six Brazilian nationals.
Six of the players touched-down in Lagos today, January 20, and will head straight to Ibadan where the team is camping to meet up with their colleagues. Mitko Dobrev will be unveiled later on the same day.
