The Super Eagles will this morning leave their Pretoria, South Africa camp for Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda, ahead of the African Nations Championship (CHAN), which kicks off tomorrow.
The CHAN brings together players that play in their national championships.
While in Kigali, the Super Eagles are expected to lodge at the four-star Hillview Hotels and Apartments and according to the travel schedule released by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the delegation will arrive in Kigali at 2.00 pm aboard a Rwanda Air plane.
The Team’s Coordinator, Patrick Pascal, said the Eagles are ready for the tournament after a month of intensive training, adding that the friendly games against two CHAN-bound teams, Angola and Ivory Coast were good tests to prepare the players for the competition.
I believe that we will all smile at the end of this championship. The atmosphere in camp is very good, the spirit is high, the players are ready. I’m happy that there is no injury worries,” Pascal said.
Meanwhile, major sponsor of the national teams, Globacom, has tasked the Super Eagles’ B Team to ensure a quality representation and make Nigeria proud at the 2016 Africa Nations Cup Championship (CHAN) kicking off in Rwanda on January 16.
The Eagles, who are grouped alongside Niger, Tunisia and Guinea, will hope to improve on their third place finish at the 2014 edition in South Africa.
“We believe the Super Eagles will key in to the new dawn in Nigerian football at international competitions by surpassing their previous record in the CHAN and emerging as the ultimate winners this time,” Globacom said in a statement in Lagos yesterday.
We have also noted the plethora of talented individuals in the squad during preparations for the competition and we hope they would pool their skills together to make Nigeria shine,” the statement added.
Glo advised Coach Sunday Oliseh to tap into his ingenuity and evolve the right strategy that can make Nigeria rule Africa again in football.
