The former national security adviser Sambo Dasuki was today, December 14, arraigned before an Abuja high court over criminal charges (photos)

Dasuki and others, including Shuaibu Salisu, a director of finance and administration at the office of the national security adviser, and Abinu Baba-Kusa, present in court were arraigned by the EFCC on a 19-count fresh charge of money laundering and criminal breech of trust.



The fourth and fifth defendants Akasia Holdings and Referral Hospital were represented by Baba-Kusa. Some of the money involved the charges read, was paid into several accounts for special prayers, purchase of various property in Abuja and to Daar Communications owned by Raymond Dokpesi for re-election campaigns for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The accused pleaded not guilty to all the charges against them. But the defending counsel for the first and second accused said he had just been served a counter affidavit by the prosecuting counsel. He asked the court to permit his client till tomorrow to apply for bail and file a better reply and affidavit for the cases against his clients.



Counsels defending other accused persons aligned with Dasuki’s lawyer for bail application on Tuesday, December 15. Rotimi Jacobs representing the federal government said: “Subject to my Lord’s convenience, I aggre.”

Justice Usen Baba-Yusuf after listening to all submissions adjourned the matter to Tuesday, December 14 for hearing on bail applications. See more photos below:
