Breaking News: EFCC Chairman Ibrahim Lamorde Removed, Replaced By Magu

Ibrahim Lamorde has been removed as the chairman of
the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
(EFCC).



Lamorde had held that position since 2011. He is
proceeding on terminal leave ahead of the formal
expiration of his tenure in February next year.

According to Sahara Reporters report, he was
replaced with Ibrahim Magu, a top level official of the
Economic and Governance Unit of the EFCC.

Magu is remembered as a no-nonsense investigator of
the commission at its inception. He had been removed
along with several other key officials by Farida
Waziri when she became chairman in 2008.

Lamorde was accused of diverting N1 trillion proceeds
of corruption which was recovered by EFCC by Dr.
George Uboh. The federal government through the
Ministry of Justice directed that he be investigated
over allegation of money diversion.
