The Niger Delta Avengers have reportedly blown up another oil installation belonging to Chevron.
This was disclosed this in a terse statement on Wednesday night, July 6, by Mudoch Agbinibo, the group’s spokesperson.
According to him, the attack was carried out between the hours of 10.50pm to 11.10pm on Wednesday.
“ Between the hours of 10.50pm to 11.10pm our (Niger Delta Avengers) strike team blew up Chevron Manifolds. The manifolds are RMP 22, 23 and 24 ,” Agbinibo revealed on the group’s website.
The Avengers further wished happy Eid Mubabrak to their Muslim brothers.
Despite pleas by the federal government and other Nigerians, the militants who have claimed responsibility for series of bombing of oil and gas pipeline in the Niger Delta region have vowed to continue its havoc until the economy collapses.
Despite the ceasefire ordered by the government, the Avengers have damaged no fewer than five oil pipelines in Delta between Friday, July 1 and Sunday, July 3.
Two days ago, the Avengers bombed oil facilities belonging to Chevron and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
The federal government has reached out to the group for dialogue but the militants are not ready to dialogue.
The twitter account of the militant group was suspended on Monday, July 4 but a new twitter page was opened on Tuesday, July 5. The group accused the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government of bribing twitter to shut down its account and vowed to continue its mission. It also threatened that the federal government would regret the action and hinted that more destructive actions would be taken .
