According to Leadership, the incident took place at the premises of the Kebbi state ministry of women affairs during the distribution of the food items.

The mother of the baby simply identified as Aisha was carrying a 25kg bag of rice that had been given to her group by the officials.

As she made her way out of the premises, a crowd suddenly rushed towards her, and in the process, the baby fell from her back and was immediately trampled to death.

A witness said: “As she made to carry the rice, people rushed towards her, she struggled to remove the food item and the baby fell down from her back in the process.

“And the baby was trampled upon. It was so sad the baby died immediately.”
According to the witness, the baby boy was just five-day-old and was yet to be given a name when the incident happened.

“What is worrisome for the woman is that she did not tell her husband she was coming for the food items. She had lied that she was going to visit her sick mother who was on admission in hospital,” the witness squealed.

Wife of Kebbi state governor, Dr. Zainab Atiku Bagudu, was represented by Hajiya Fadima Muhammed Bunza, the wife of Bunza local government sole administrator at the event.

Hajiya Buhari recently shared the photo of a little boy, Musa who was abused by his grandmother and step mother in Kano. Mrs. Buhari got involved in his case and the boy has since been transferred to an Abuja hospital.
