The victim, who is a primary one pupil of a private school located behind Ibori Golf Club, Asaba, was reportedly killed on Thursday by a reckless driver of the tipper lorry, who was on top speed on the high way when the victim made an attempt to cross the expressway.

While confirming the reports, the Police spokesperson, Mrs. Celestina Kalu said the driver of the tipper truck is in police custody for further investigation. According to her, the top speed of the driver made it impossible for him to apply his brake during the attempt of the victim to cross the Expressway.

While neighbours within Awai community are still recovering from the shock, investigations revealed that no fewer than eight persons have been reportedly killed through reckless tipper truck drivers in the past three months on the Asaba – Awai Ugbolu Expressway.

The residents of the Asaba- Awai community, however, called on the state government to ban tipper drivers in the state saying that they have been killer drivers on the roads.
