This is the moment a man who had been swallowed up by an escalator was rescued in China. The man had been working to fix the moving stairs when they suddenly came on and dragged him inside. Firefighters had to cover his back to shield him from debris as they cut through metal to free him.
It is believed Sunday's accident happened when the repairman failed to disconnect the power to the escalator before stating work.
According to local media, the man was rushed to hospital in the town of Chongqing in south west China. He was later transferred to an intensive care unit and remains in a stable condition.
