A woman rushed to a hospital complaining of pain and tenderness in her stomach, but doctors were shocked to find she had a condom stuck in her appendix.

Before the surgery, the 26-year old Cameroonian whose name was not mentioned, had complained of nausea and tenderness at the right side of her pelvis. She said she could not eat and had fever.

She was advised to go for a scan which revealed swollen abdomen with fluid.
Believing she had appendicitis, the doctors took her to the theatre but discovered the appendix was normal.

The abnormal thing however was that a condom was stuck in the area.
The woman later identified that she mistakenly swallowed a condom two weeks before she had the stomach problem.

Doctors, according to Gistmania, say this is the first of such incidents.
A condom is a sheath-shaped device used during sexual intercourse to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.

It is rolled on an erect penis before intercourse and can help hold back ejaculated semen from entering the body of a sexual partner.

Condoms are also used during oral sex and for collection of semen for use in infertility treatment.
