Officials of the Zamfara state police command have hinted that no fewer than four persons lost their lives in an attack carried out by yet to be identified gunmen.
The commands spokesman, DSP Sanusi Amiru who confirmed the incident to NAN on Thursday, December 3, in Gusau, said the killings took place in Tangaran village in Anka local government area of the state on Tuesday night.
It was further gathered that the gunmen storm the village in the wee hour of the night when residents were preparing to take the night nap.
The gunmen reportedly opened fire on the people outside, leaving four people dead on the spot.
A witness who gave his name as Kabiru Umar, told journalists that 11-year-old girl who was selling bean cake is among those killed, adding that when the girl’s mother came to carry her corpse, she was shot on her buttocks.
According to Umar, the development caused pandemonium as other residents swiftly locked their doors while those outside scampered for safety as the sporadic gun shots continued.
The command mouthpiece also hinted that six other people whom sustained various degrees of injuries were rushed to Anka General Hospital by the police for urgent medical attention.
Amiru further hinted that the police recovered three bullet shells from the scene, and assured that calm had returned as the police continue to hunt for the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
The force spokesman expressed optimism that the assailants would be apprehended soon.
