One time Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, on
Tuesday disclosed that the Boko Haram menace may
not end in December as planned by the Federal
Government.
Gowon, who expressed confidence in the military’s
renewed efforts in flushing out insurgency in the
country, stressed that it was out of place for someone
to say the war against insurgency would end in a
particular period of time.
The former Head of State, however, faulted the
presidency on the deadline given to the military to end
the insurgency in the country, noting that from past
experiences, no one should be certain when such
menace like insurgency would end.
He however appealed to Nigerians to use prayers as an
alternative and effective weapon to defeat Boko Haram
as it’s capable of changing the hearts of the insurgents.
