Members of a nine-man robbery gang, who shot an eight-
year-old boy, Rejoice Andrew, while trying to rob his
father, Evangelist Andrew Adejoh, have been apprehended
by the Kogi State Police Command.
The outgoing Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Mr.
Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi, paraded the suspects in Lokoja, the
Kogi State capital, on Wednesday.
He said Adejoh had on August 5, reported at the Ankpa
Divisional Police Station in Ankpa Local Government
Area of the state that some armed robbers invaded his
house and shot his son while they were trying to rob them
at gun point.
Ogunjemilusi said the prompt intervention of the police at
the Ankpa division led to the arrest of two of the suspected
gang members – Muhammed Abubakar and Ali Sumaila.
According to him, the police also recovered from the
suspects one AK-47 riffle,which the police commissioner
said was snatched from a corporal, Mr. Agbonika
Amos,who was attacked in July 2015 at Ankpa.
The police boss said Andrew underwent four major
operations. Abubakar and Sumaila had admitted their
involvement in the attack in a confessional statement, it was
learnt. Ogunjemilusi also paraded a 32 year-old man,
Mohammed Bello, and his gang members who were
arrested for alleged kidnapping.
The police commissioner said the suspects on August 22,
attacked and kidnapped Mohammed Idris and Abdullahi
Idris while they were on transit along Okene -Okpela
Road.
He added that the suspects collected N1.5m ransom before
they released their victims.
According to him, after the release of the victims, police
investigation led to the arrest of Bello and some of his gang
members in their hideout while some other members of the
gang escaped.
He said all the suspects would be arraigned after the
completion of investigations
