Flood destroyed Gombe houses, bridge, culverts (photo)

A heavy rainfall has destroyed a bridge, culverts, Houses in
Gombe and Akko Local Government Areas of the State.
Residents of Buba Shongo area of Gombe metropolis said a big
culvert in the area collapsed after downpour causing serious
traffic in the area.

They said the rain was heavy and the culvert could not contain
the volume of water which led to the collapse of big culvert in
the area, urging authorities concerned to repair the culverts and
the bridge to avoid more damages to the residents of the area.
Members of the Man Owar voluntary organisation were seen
rendering voluntary services to control traffic near the collapsed
bridge.

Many houses were destroyed in kumo town in Akko Local
Government Area as a result of heavy down pour.
Caretaker committee Chairman of the council Alhaji Adamu
Yakubu stated this after he symphatized with the victim and
inaugurated the 11 man committee to ascertain the damages done
to the houses and properties in the area.

He gave the committee 24 hours to compile its report to enable
the council seek for assistance from the State government to
reduce the sufferings of the victims.
